Things To Do On Your Lunch Break: In Summer

Get creative with how to spend your lunch break this summer as a freelancer

With us approaching the warmer weather, we can get more creative with how we spend our lunch breaks. I’ve been experimenting with how I can have both fun on my lunch break and catch lunch simultaneously. Here are seven lunch break ideas you could try out as a freelancer in the summer.

1. Rollerskating On Your Lunch Break

Rollerskating is both fun and good for your fitness levels. Why not make your way to your local park with a flat surface so you can have a skating session? The great thing about freelancing is that you can often choose when to have your lunch. So, if you’re new to skating and want to go when it’s not so busy, you can do this. Maybe try going at 11.30 am instead of 12 or 2 pm. Seen as the traditional lunch breaks are between 12 pm- and 1 pm.

I’ve recently got back into skating and have been loving it! If you’re a skater novice, get some protective equipment like knee pads if you fall!

If you are going to do this- it’s better to rollerskate first and then have your lunch or ensure you are fully digested before skating!

2. Go For A Walk

Going for a walk is another great option if you prefer to have more control of your feet on the ground. You can catch a tan and bask in the lovely heat with the sun out. On your walk, you could take photos or videos and create a gallery of your walks over the summer!

3. Read A Relaxing Book

Reading in the sun is one of my favourite things to do in the summer. Especially when it’s a book that’s not directly related to work.

Find a quiet spot outside with limited distractions and read to your heart’s desire on your lunch break. It’s calming and therapeutic.

4. Catch Up With Some Friends

Life can get busy, and sometimes, before you know it, you realise there are some people you haven’t caught up with in a while. You have (or should) your lunch break every day. So this is a great opportunity to catch up with friends. You could schedule a time to meet in person, phone call, or even text!

5. Switch It Up: Things To Do On Your Lunch Break

To help keep your mind fresh and your creative juices flowing, try different things to do on your lunch break every day. Routine can sometimes get boring and sap out the fun you could have on your lunch break. It’s called a break because it’s meant to give you time away from work and not feel bored. So take advantage of that!

6. Go Shopping

Shopping can be a fun way to disengage from work duties. Why not treat yourself or even catch up on buying some things you’ve been meaning to do? Just don’t go overboard, and make sure you are spending within your budget!

7. Enjoy Your Food: Things To Do On Your Lunch Break

As much as you can do many fun things on your lunch break, don’t forget to eat your food! There are many different tasty recipes you could do each day for lunch. Experimenting with different daily lunch recipes can also be a fun way to spend your lunch!
