About Me:

Hi, I’m Maxine. I’m the founder of this blog.

Remi is my Nigerian name, in case you’re wondering why I chose that title for this blog. I thought it matches better with ‘Reports’, which relates to my passion for writing.

I am a Black British 20-something year old with a love for writing!

From the age of 7, I knew writing was a career path I wanted to follow. I graduated with a degree in English Language and Linguistics at university. During my time at university, I joined the student newspaper where I reviewed music gigs and pitched opinion pieces. This allowed me to explore the world of journalism more, as well as get some free tickets to watch some talented artists, which is always a plus!

After university, I went onto do a 1 year media internship with my church, where I got the chance to continue developing my craft.

Following my internship, I returned to my hometown, London.

But when returning, I found no success in getting a full time, or even part time job in writing or the creative industry. Even with the experience I had acquired through university and the internship.

My Freelance Journey:

Through job hunting, I discovered there were also facebook groups for creatives. So, I joined a few and discovered many were posting freelance job opportunities. At this time, I wasn’t really aware of what freelancing was, but I was attracted to many of the gigs that were being posted.

One day I saw a role that looked like it had been posted just for me! It was a freelance Digital Marketing Assistant role which included blogging!

So I applied and sure enough, I got the role, which ended up being a 1 year contract!

This was the start of my freelance journey.

Through landing this client, I started looking for other clients too.

I built a niche in natural hair, something I am passionate about, and gained various clients in this field.

One year and a month later, I was able to buy my first car, which was something I was thrilled about having achieved through freelancing!

It was only by God’s grace that my freelance journey begun and is still going today!

Now

Although freelancing wasn’t something I set out to do from the beginning, I wouldn’t have wanted my career to go any other way.

Freelancing offers so much flexibility.

It allows you to make your passion your paycheque.

You can make multiple income streams with no cap on how much you can earn!
