After an inspirational fashion session on Pinterest last week, I ordered a Herringbone coat shortly after from Depop. Sometime last year I made a work from home loungewear haul. Although this post was a good start for me to get into the habit of getting properly dressed when working from home, most of the outfits were mainly suited for lounging indoors. So I’ve been getting inspiration to upgrade my outfits, especially as I’ve been working in outdoor spaces more. These fits are still comfortable, but with more of a professional and outdoors look.
All Grey Everything
Coupled with my burgundy headscarf, I framed this outfit around this grey herringbone coat. It features grey, black, and white checkered trousers, a plain grey long sleeve top, and a dark grey cardigan. To top it all off, I wore these brogue-like shoes I bought a while back from a new look. Unfortunately, I discovered the back it wasn’t a good fit for my feet as after a while of walking, it caused rubbing against the back of my foot. I found this unfortunate as I really was a fan of this look. I’m currently looking for an alternative to these shoes or something to help aid me to wear these shoes… any suggestions, please do comment below!
Orange Boilersuit
I featured this fit in my loungewear haul, but found that out of all the outfits in this post, this boilersuit is the one I rarely wear at home. I found it’s better suited to wear when out and about. It fits well with my Herringbone coat and black Nike SB Check Solar Skate Shoes.
Roll Neck Jumper and Chinos
I styled this outfit by tucking the jumper into my navy blue chinos. I bought the jumper on sale from H&M last week and I’ve had the rousers for a while, but recall I also got them from H&M. The jumper is super warm and the end of the sleeves feature some pearl beads, but I prefer to fold the sleeves over for a more plain and consistent look. A typical spring style look I’d say.
Roll Neck Jumper With Mom Jeans
I bought this Pull&Bear jumper a few years ago and these mom jeans are from New Look. This piece is more on the casual side but with the Herringbone coat, it does give that extra feel of professionalism. I noticed this with pretty much all my outfits- the coat adds that extra effect.
Black checkered silk top and fold over dungarees with trainers
This long silk top from is from Select and the black cropped dungarees are from New Look. I styled this fir by folding the dungarees over and the top is long enough to tactically cover this. When I went out, I paired this with my black Nike trainers.
I hope this post has inspired you to try out some spring style outfits. Especially if you’re a freelancer, dressing up professionally can seem unnecessary. But I’ve found it actually makes a difference to how professional you feel. It enhances that sense of boss levels in a way- maybe it’s a psychological thing. It’s nice to switch it up now and then and have a balance between loungewear and smart/casual outfits. These are the perks of working remotely and being able to choose your office space.
