I’ve just arrived back in London after a three week holiday in Toronto, Canada. Visiting this wonderful country has enhanced my desire to move there in the future. There are so many factors that have attracted me to the second largest country in the world, but to mention a few:

1. The economy is in very good shape, compared to the UK and many other countries in the world.

2. I like the way the houses are built over there, as most of them are detached, unlike the UK where most are terraced. This is probably due to the mass amount of land that Canada has compared to the UK. Also, many of them are built with an air conditioner.

3. Living standards are generally cheaper in Canada compared to England, especially London. For example, consumer prices (including rent) in London are 51.51% higher than in Toronto.

4. Toronto is approximately an 8 hour drive away from New York, so if I fancied a trip to the US it wouldn’t be too much of a hassle- both distance and cost wise.

5. Similar to the UK, Canada has a free healthcare system.

6. Although Canada’s gun possession regulations for ordinary citizens are not completely prohibited like the UK, it is still very strict, especially compared to the US.

7. It’s more affordable to own a car in Canada- regardless of your age! Whilst visiting there, it felt like almost every fast food restaurant had a drive-through ordering service. Now this may not be a good thing all-round, as it may mean that there may be higher pollution levels, for example. However, I personally like the idea of owning a car at an affordable cost, without congestion charge.

8. Tim Hortons! This Canadian-founded coffee shop sells the amazing French Vanilla Coffee, amongst many other delicious foods!

These are just a few benefits that I have discovered on my holiday. Obviously, my desire to move there is just that –a desire– and not a decision or even aspiration at the moment. I know there are many other factors to take into consideration if I was to ever decide to relocate. As for now, I’m satisfied with living here in my home town, London.

Below are some pictures I took whilst on my holiday, where I visited Niagara Falls, China Town, Yonge-Dundas Square, Toronto Railway Museum and many other places.
