When starting a business, understanding your brand and who it caters to is essential to achieving success. Niching is a topic I myself have battled with throughout my freelance journey, but as I’ve progressed, I’ve found that finding a niche, helps with marketing your business better.
I’ve shared before that I started my freelance journey is different creative roles. However, from the beginning of 2020, I have decided to niche down into focusing solely on my writing, my main passion.
From building this blog, I’ve come to know the value of niching. So, here are a few benefits to finding a niche as a freelancer.
1. Become An Expert In Your Niche
By narrowing your focus on a specific audience and craft, you’re able to invest more time in that specific craft and enhance your chances of becoming an expert in your field.
2. Easily Identifiable When Finding Your Niche
If you constantly push yourself as the go-to person in your field, for example, natural hair care expert, it is much easier for people to remember specifically what it is you do. The content you create would be designed around this topic and signal to others clearly what it is you specialize in.
3. Build A Better Audience Relationship
Through finding your niche, you can get a better idea of your target audience.
You can then start using their language when creating content to speak directly to them.
Through this, you can build a closer connection with your audience and build brand loyalty, as there is more of a sense like you are speaking their language and not to a stretched out generic audience.
4. Save Marketing Money
When you zone into a specific audience base, you can also create target prospect lists and develop a marketing plan specifically for that audience.
This means you won’t have to stretch out to a vast amount of ways t market but can narrow down to the platforms that your target audience uses.
5. Reduced Competiton When Finding Your niche
When you are seen as an expert in your field and specific niche, it’s easier for more of the same type of customers to come to you.
This is because they are unlikely to find the same specific garnered content as easily elsewhere. It, in turn, reduces your competition as you tailor targeted content.
6. Offer More When Finding Your Niche
Through finding your niche, you are actually able to offer your audience more insight into your expertise.
You’ll have a vast amount of knowledge in your area of expertise and you can then offer tailored services/ advice/ products based on this.
7. Opportunities to increase prices
As you niche down and become and expert in your field, the time you spend dedicated to learning about specific topics to expand your knowledge can be reflected in your prices.
Through your clients getting access to you, they are getting access to your expertise, and therefore, the work you have put into becoming an expert can be reflected in your pay rates.
