This post contains 7 top styles I’ve tried with the unraveled Havana Mambo Twist. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy the hair was to install myself and despite the jumbo size of each twist, it was incredibly soft and lightweight. I found it to be a very flexible hairstyle.
1. Leave All Out Crochet
Simple yet effective. You can leave your unravelled twists out and pull it to one side as displayed in this photo. A clip can be used at the back to pin it to the side. Or you could let it out completely; the choice is yours!
2. High Bun Crochet
Hair accessories are great and fun to incorporate in hairstyles. I got this headwrap from Grassfields some time ago. Hair accessories are great and fun to incorporate in hairstyles. I got this headwrap from Grassfields some time ago. Although they currently aren’t selling this exact design, they do have some other beautiful African headwraps that I would recommend checking out. This high bun was achieved by tipping my head forward for the hair to fall and then tying it in a bun with a hairband. I then rounded it up by wrapping and tucking in the headwrap.
3. Side Part Low Bun Crochet
This is another simple style, but with some added flair. You can leave some hair out at the side to add to the style. The flexibility of crochet with a cornrow base makes it easy to make a parting anywhere.
4. Side Fringe With Folded Bun Crochet
This could be more of a corporate style; a folded up bun with a side fringe. The curls add volume to the style, whilst also carrying off a sophisticated look.
5. Headwrap Front Knot Crochet
This headwrap look is a classic go-to whether you have extensions in or not. The Front knot is achieved by twisting both ends of the scarf from the root to the ends and tying it into a knot. You can choose to leave your hair out as shown in this image or tie it back into a bun.
6. Headband And Leave Out Ponytail Crochet
To achieve this ponytail, I tied the headwrap around my edges about twice and left the bow effect at the back. It formed this pineapple ponytail style. The headwrap hides the base of the cornrows underneath the crochet, so there’s no need to worry!
7. Twist Out Bob Crochet
The length of this hair is usually shoulder length, as shown in look 1, but this twist out bob was achieved by tying the headwrap all around my head and tucking it in, towards the front. As this particular headwrap is fairly thick and large in size, it lifts the length of the hair to create a bob and gives the effect of a headband.
