Today, thanks to my mentor, I had the opportunity to attend a talk at the British Music Experience. It was more of an interview styled event, where Laura Mvula was asked questions about her career, upbringing and how it influenced her to become an artist.
Laura Mvula is a BRIT Award nominee for Best British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act 2014. She has previously performed at the Glastonbury Festival 2013, The Graham Norton Show and was the winner of the MOBO Awards Best Female Act and Best R&B / Soul Act 2013. Influenced by a variety of music genres whilst growing up including Jazz, Gospel, Soul and Pop, as well as being a multi-instrumentalist, Laura has a very unique style of music.
This event has persuaded me to research further into Laura Mvula’s work and the new music she is due to release this year!
