Headwraps are great for protective styling, especially in cold seasons. These simple African head wrap styles can give you some ideas of how to wrap your headscarf. My natural hair underneath all of these headwrap styles was in a slick bun at the back. The headwrap I used was from grassfields and the material is cotton with wax print. The material of your headscarf will determine how flexible it is to style.
Simple Wrap and Tuck
Through playing around with my headwrap I managed to do this style and happened to really like it. I created an equal length at both sides of the scarf, placed it behind my head whilst still holding both ends equally at the front, and then wrapped it in an X position across the front to cover my head. I then wrapped both ends around about once and tucked them in at the top.
Flat Top Headwrap
To create a large flat top bun with your headscarf, begin in the same position as the previous style with each end of the scarf in either of your hands at equal lengths and place behind your head. Following this, loosely twist each end and begin wrapping around in a circular motion around the circumference of your head into a top bun and tuck in, to finish. Ensure the scarf is secure enough to stay steady and not unravel.
Classic Front Knot
This is the classic headscarf look; a popular go-to head wrap look. To achieve this style, bring both ends of the headscarf to the front after placing it behind your head (the same position as the previous two syles). Then bring both ends of the headscarf together and tightly twist them until they curve and wrap them into a circular motion at the front and then knot and tuck. And voila! You should achieve the above look!
