Patreon is a great platform for creators to offer exclusive content to their followers. It’s great if you are on the audience side and looking for that extra resource from a creator you are following. I recently created a Patreon and in this blog post, I’ll be sharing 7 reasons to sign up to Patreon and giving examples of what I include in my personal Patreon as a freelance creative.
Exclusive Content
The main purpose of Patreon is to provide exclusive content to those who sign up to Patreon. It is information that will not be available elsewhere on that creators’ platform.
Examples of exclusive content I give on my Patreon include a bi-monthly newsletter of freelance creative gigs, video tutorials of software for freelancers, free 1 2 1 calls.
Connect Further With The Creator
Patreon is specifically designed for creators who already have an audience. So if you follow a creator that you’d like to connect with more on a deeper level, Patreon is the place you can do this.
For example, on my Patreon I provide behind the scenes video content of my life as a freelance creative. This is an option other creators offer as you can learn more about the creator you are supporting.
Discounts
Some creators also offer discounts on their Patreon for some of their products. I am one of these creators. In fact, I even offer a FREE 1 2 1 strategy call for one of the tiers on my Patreon. I also offer a Patreon-only discount for my Beginner Freelancer E-course.
Support A Creatives Platform
If you are benefiting from free content a creator you’re following and want to show another way to support them, Patreon is a great way to do this, with the extra benefit of getting more from them!
Livestreaming
On my Patreon, I also offer regular livestreaming services where you can ask me questions in real-time about your freelance journey and see other’s questions from the Remi Reports Patreon community.
Physical Merchandise
Some creators also offer merchandise for Patreons, like cups, t-shirts etc. This can help you feel like you really part of the community.
Member Recognition
There also ways for the creator you are following to get to know you better on a personal level when you sign up to Patreon, as it will be a tighter-knit community. For example, they can do shout outs to you and even add you in the credits of their work if you suggest an idea for them to create for the platform.
