Black YouTubers Delivering Quality Content in 2019: Top 7

Top Black YouTubers

This blog post is a curated list on Black YouTubers who are creating quality content in 2019.

I am all for supporting black-owned businesses with quality services. This is a curated list of Black YouTubers who are delivering quality content in 2019. They showcase black excellence in this modern day.

Erin On Demand

Discovering this YouTube Channel was definitely sub at first sight. (Did you spot the pun? lol). Based in Detroit and previously a Broadcast Presenter, Erin Winters became self-employed after a few years in the industry. Her business, Erin On Demand, helps people tell stories through video. Winters’ YouTube Channel is filled with tips for entrepreneurs and the self-employed. I have found valuable insight with each video. Especially having recently become a full-time freelancer myself.

JameliaDotCom

Being a British 90s baby, I grew up watching and singing along to Jamelias songs. JameliaDotCom speaks on black hair care, lifestyle and a recently launched show called The Table. This show gathers those within the black community to discuss topics often not spoken about in mainstream media. After having routinely been the only black person in several mainstream spaces, Jamelia created The Table. The show brings a diverse range of black people to speak on different topics affecting the community.

Sincerely Oghosa

I have been following Sincerely Oghosa for a while now, from when she had her old channel DatSweetPoetri. And one of the things that keeps me tuned in is her authenticity and the diverse topics she covers. She speaks from the relatable lens of a Black British Christian Woman. Oghosa is also dubbed The Caption Queen on Instagram, due to her humorous captions posted alongside her stunning images.

Joseph Soloman

Joseph Soloman is another YouTuber I’ve long been a fan of. Previously titled ‘Chase God TV’, Joseph’s channel covers Christian topics. His videos usually surround questions aimed to challenge and inspire spiritual growth. Jo is also a poet and part of the PIA (Poets In Autumn) collective that tours internationally- including the UK. I have been to one of their events and it was an amazing display of talent. As well as being gifted with words, Joseph is also a musician. He shares both his poem and musical talent on his channel.

Fusion Of Cultures

Leila’s channel, Fusion of Cultures, is a natural hair channel. Based in the UK, Leila is one of the YouTubers who inspired me in my transition to go natural. She shares hair care tips- from a holistic approach. She is also a plant mum and slightly sparked my interest in plants!

Jade Vanriel

Jade Vanriel is an exemplary example for aspiring millennial homeowners. It has become considerably difficult for our generation to own a home. Especially when compared to previous generations. But Jade became a homeowner at the tender age of 23. This shows it is possible. On her YouTube channel, she tours spectacular homes around the UK. #Goals

Issa Rae Presents

Issa Rae has come a long way! She’s finally getting recognised for her craft as a film producer. I stumbled across her YouTube Series Misadventures Of The Awkward Black Girl a while back and instantly became a fan. To see how she has grown more prominent on bigger platforms is great. Issa still posts short films on the same channel that Misadventures of The Awkward Black Girl was born. And she is dedicated to creating job roles for black people both on-screen and behind the scenes. Misadventures Of The Awkward Black Girl series is similar to Issa’s, now, mainstream and popular show Insecure. It’s nice to see her progress, increased recognition and continuous strive to support black creatives.

All 7 of these Black YouTubers deliver quality content to their channels! This is much needed in this online world. If you watch any of these Black YouTubers or you discovered them through this post, feel free to comment below. Happy Black History Month!
